Who is BB Cat?
Bakeneko Bastet, also known as BB Cat, is a vibrant purple and pink celestial being and whispering guardian guiding you through your mind, body, and spirit journeys to realize the best you.
She believes we are each a miracle and wants to reflect back to the world the beauty of humanity so each person sees it in themselves. BB Cat was inspired on this path while dancing in the sun rays at the Gates of Ishtar interacting with the mortals pass through the eighth gate of the city. BB Cat wants to activate the “inner 8th gate” inside of us all.
Origins
BB Cat was born in 575 BCE. Originally a cosmic butterfly made of pink and purple stardust, she enjoyed dancing on a rays of sunlight at the Gates of Ishtar in Mesopotamia. It was BB Cat's greatest joy to play in the sunlight glinting off shiny metal objects to catch the attention of passers by and reflect their best versions of themselves back to their eyes as they crossed the gates to enter the city.
Ishtar often spent time eighth entrance to the ancient city because the citizens had built and dedicated the Ishtar Gate to her in the fourth millennium BCE. Although a celestial being and not a goddess, Ishtar was worshiped as one and often associated with birth, death and rebirth as well as the dualities of love, war, fertility, the underworld and storms.
She observed BB Cat lightly dancing upon the humans to ignite their spark of divinity and remind them of their destiny and the sacred paths in life. It was pure joy to see the cosmic butterfly frolicking in the sunshine. Ishtar was reminded of cat’s play at play and was inspired to grant BB Cat with a more corporeal form. BB Cat was amazed at the agility her cat form provided and chased the sun’s rays as it set just like modern cats chase laser beams.
BB Cat still loved to stay by the gates and watch the passersby trying to inspire them to be their best selves and delve into the creative spark that resides within us all. BB Cat was amazed to discover after half a millennium that she could assume a humanoid form and visit with humans to speak to them about all she had learned in the cat form and from observing the evolution of humanity.

BB Cat is the daughter of Ishtar, related to Bastet the Egyptian goddess of home, cats, fertility and protection and is also cousin to the bakeneko, a Japanese yōkai, or supernatural entity. Although not directly related to them, BB Cat is also connected with other celestial beings from around the world such as Barong (Indonesian), Isis (Egyptian), Tiamat (Mesopotamian), Anansi (Akan West African), Guanshiyin/Quan Yin (Chinese), Brizo (Greek), Bau (Mesopotamian), Loki (Norse), Oya (Yoruban), Artemis (Greek), B3LL3 the Whal3 (North American) and many others.
